The Hidden Earthquake Induced Liquefaction Risks in the Rohingya Refugee Camp Hills & Surrounding Areas of Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh—A Geotechnical Engineering Approach

Liquefaction is one of the major catastrophic geohazards which usually occurs in saturated or partially sandy silty soils during a seismic event. Evaluating potential liquefaction risks seismically prone area can significantly reduce loss lives and damage to civil infrastructures. This research mainly focused on earthquake-induced risk assessment based Potential Index (LPI) values at different earthquake magnitudes (M = 5.0, 7.0 8.0) with peak ground acceleration (amax) 0.28 g Rohingya Refugee camp surrounding areas Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. Standard Penetration Test (SPT) results have been evaluated for assessment. The are composed very loose sands some silts clays. It established from grain size analysis results; soil study sand dominated (SP) clay (SC) consists 93.68% 99.48% sand, 0.06% 4.71% gravel 0% 6.26% silt clay.
